Walking in your Green Belt

Finding a place to walk in your local Green Belt

We want to help people discover their local Green Belt and the countryside close to where they live. Here are a selection of walks to get you started!

To start with these will be uploaded by Kat as she transforms her Green Belt circumnavigation of Glasgow into a series of circular and point to point walks for others to enjoy. However we want to hear from you – if you have a favourite walk in your local area, particularly if it is on the edge of a town or city, let us know.

How to upload your local walk

The easiest way to do this is to use a mapping app such as the Ordnance Survey App or Strava. You should record the walk as an ‘activity’ on the app and then you can download the GPX file and send it to us – it’s that simple.

If you are not a user of apps then you can draw it on a map and send it to us by email or in the post (address at bottom of page). We may come out and meet you to walk it with you if we need a bit more information.
