Emily Annan – Data Centre Volunteer

Emily studied Philosophy as an undergraduate at the University of Aberdeen, where she developed a strong interest in the ethical and social implications of emerging technologies. This led her to pursue a master’s degree in Philosophy at King’s College London, where she focussed on artificial intelligence and wrote her dissertation on AI-related issues. Emily chose to volunteer with APRS on the data centres project because it represents a clear example of how the rapid expansion of AI infrastructure can have significant and negative environmental impacts. She am passionate about contributing to work that helps ensure technological development is balanced with environmental protection and community wellbeing.

We are delighted that Emily recently was offered a job as an analyst at Ofgem which is perfectly suited to her skills and the direction she wants to go!
