Response from UK Government to our letter on IMA

This letter, from Lord Offord, Minister for Exports, Department for Business and Trade, UK Government is a response to our joint NGO letter to the Prime Minister on the IMA.

In reading this response please note that this response to our letter from the UK Government misrepresents part of our original letter to the PM. In our letter we used the plastic bag tax and single unit pricing as examples of where policy innovation in devolved nations has led to changes in UK policy. We did not use these as examples of anything related to IMA.

One thing to note in the letter is Lord Offord’s reference to the review requirements in the Act – the use of the Part 1 and Part 2 amendment powers will need to be reviewed within the next two years.  That gives an opportunity to influence and improve the act.
