Scotland loves National Parks

Scotland has really special places but special things need protection or they are easily lost- that’s why we need national parks to protect those places in all their physical, cultural and social components.

One of Scotland’s main asset is it’s natural capital - National Park status helps conserve this for future generations. There is a unified approach to managing the environment which enhances the visual aesthetic. They are a draw for investment and farming in sustainable ways. They connect lots of differing economic activities under the banner of conservation for the future.

National Parks can and do show the way to a better future for all Scotland's rural landscapes and communities.

I love that Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park is not too far from where we live and so we go there quite often. It's great for walking and there's so much nature and the views are amazing. I feel we are so lucky to have all this so close to Glasgow - it's really special. I would love to see more national parks in Scotland, it seems that there are so many places just as wonderful as Loch lomond.

Our National Parks add so much value to Scotland, places identified and protected for their special characteristics, their value to biodiversity, communities and businesses. It amazes me that a country like Scotland only has two!

Scotland's National Parks are wonderful places to live, work and play. They benefit local people and visitors in equal measure. For me they are places where I connect with nature and find inspiration from the landscape and people who love to live there. I wish there were more National Parks in Scotland.

I love Scotland and I love its countryside. It needs protection. National Parks are important tools that allow for robust management of Scotland's vital landscapes and wildlife habitats. They encourage good stewardship of the natural environment and so form a key element of Scotland's response to the climate emergency.

The beautiful scenery of special places, and happy memories of days outside with friends and families - walking and talking, nature conservation volunteering, seeing city kids experience awesome countryside. A sense of hope that these parts of Scotland might be even more special in future - just as scenic, richer in wildlife and with flourishing communities all in spite of the enormous challenge of climate change.

It amazes me how much diversity is in the Scottish landscape. I love to see others enjoying national parks in their own way - walking, cycling, bird-watching…… We can all share these spaces with each other and nature!
