I realised today that, during the Lanarkshire section of my walk around the Green Belts of Glasgow, I actually walked right across the sites for the planned hyperscale data centres in North and South Lanarkshire. This seemed like such a coincidence I should write a blog-post about it.
Between July 2022 and June 2023 I walked around 300km around Glasgow’s Green Belts over 26 days. The aim was to learn more about what Green Belts are and some of the issues affecting them, the people who use them and live in them. I tried to spend most of the walk within the Green Belt but did stray out of them from time to time. It turns out my linear walk took me across the sites of 5 proposed hyperscale data centres in Lanarkshire which I am very amazed at. What a piece of serendipity.
