The sheer scale of the task at hand in circumnavigating the whole Greater Glasgow Greenbelt is starting to sink in, and the sheer lack of time I have at weekends and in days off to do this walk.

The regulations for the new Local Development Plan (LDP) review process came into force on 19 May 2023 and shortly afterwards the Scottish Government published Guidance on LDPs so that local authorities can implement the new system.

Anyone can now ‘pre-register’ with the Scottish Government if they think they might consider nominating an area of Scotland as a new National Park. The Scottish Government have committed to designating at least one new National Park by 2026 and nominations process will be launched in the Autumn

Environmental campaigners reacted with deep dismay to the Scottish Government’s announcement that they intend to delay deposit return for a fourth time, to align with a UK system which has yet to be designed and agreed.
