Barry is part of the APRS office team, and is fundraising by completing a 1,406km (874miles) challenge, which is the same distance as the journey from Lands End to John O’Groats.

As we discussed the new APRS campaign, Love You Countryside, I was inspired My colleagues’ fundraising efforts. Director Kat is walking the Glasgow Green Belt and Jo is completing a 846,467 step challenge (one for every hour that APRS has existed). These are both amazing fundraising activities and I wanted to take on something that will hopefully help my overall fitness and let me explore my own local countryside. Having looked at number of virtual challenges, this felt like a great way to keep me motivated and what better journey to take on than Lands End to John O’Groats.
I’ll be walking and cycling as part of the fundraiser, logging all activities against the journey. I want to explore different parts of Scotland as well as my local countryside and cycle paths and I’m lucky to live close to part of the John Muir Way, so I am eager to use some of the famous path, too.
Any donations will help push me towards the next step of the challenge, and it would be great if you could support me. But, if you can’t financially support the challenge, words of encouragement or sharing the fundraiser will also help.
The challenge must be completed by August 31st 2024, which allows for a bad winter, but hopefully I will be able to complete it before then. That said my very first cycle of about 8 miles didn’t even show as one percent of the journey.
You can keep track of the journey or donate to the fundraiser on Barry’s JustGiving page.
